The Funen Village

So, we went to The Funen Village and we had to do som taskes there, that our teachers gave us. Here is the answers:

Task 1:
We had to visit Tommerup Præstegård, Katterød Hospital and Melbyhuset and then describe the toilet facilities:

The first place was a really great manor house with red half-timbering. The toilet was inside the house in the master bedroom. Of course it was not a real toilet as the ones we have today, but more like a box with a bucket inside. The bucket was removable so that you could empty it after use. The box had a lid, so you could use it both as a toilet and close it and just use it as a stool.

In the second building we could not find any toilet, so we guess that they had to "do" outside. Pleasant.

At the third place the toilet was outside, and we did not notice any way you could empty it.

Task 2:
We tried to count the houses of half-timber. There was a lot, almost all the houses was of half-timber, and we counted 23 houses.

Task 3:
The houses in the village did not had any water pipes, so they had to use pumps and wells to get water. If there were neither a pump or a well they would collect the rain water or use the water from streams. For instance H.C. Andersens mom used to wash their clothes in Odense Å (Odense Stream).

Task 4:
Then we had to visit three different mills and find out some different things about them. At the time of the Funen Village electricity was not inventet. Therefore the mills was an important source of energy, which was used to grind the grain into flour. The power to keep the mills running came from either wind, water or horses who pulled it around.

Task 5:
The next house we had to visit was the house of andold handicraftsman who made clogs.

Task 6:
The next place was the school in the village. We had to find out how many students there used to be in the classroom, but we couldn't find the answer. We tried to count and got like 34 students. Then we found a sign where it said that there was 100 students at the shcool: Half of them in the early hours and half of them afterwards, and if that is right, there would be like 50 students.
In winters they had to heat the classroom, and to do that they had a fireplace at the middle of the rearmost wall in the room.

Task 7:
In this task we had to visit the dinning room Fjeldstedgården. There were three people sitting around the table. Two servants (two girls), who did not had a place at the table, were serving the food which was bread and some kind of porridge, probably oatmeal porridge. They did not had anything to drink.
